Nicolas Lapierre with PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports at Daytona

PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports has announced its lineup for the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 29-30). The American team will field the same drivers in Florida as last year: Ben Keating, Mikkel Jensen, Scott Huffaker and Nicolas lapierre. This will be the French driver's seventh consecutive participation, the second with the Oreca 07 number 52. “I am very happy and excited to come back with PR1, we have unfinished business, Lapierre reacted. Now I know the team and my teammates better. The competition this year is tougher. Last year we had a very competitive package, and I'm sure this year will be the same. I'm very excited about the number of cars in this event, it will be awesome. I'm really looking forward to January! » The quartet was forced to abandon in January 2021.

The Keating, Jensen and Huffaker trio will be in the running to retain their title acquired in the LM P2 category last season. Two other drivers will be named for the sprint events. A second prototype will be used for this 2021 financial year.IMSA. “This is a first for PR1/Mathiasen trying to compete with a second car, explains Ray Mathiasen, Team Principal. The No. 52 car will compete in the 24 Hours of Daytona with the same group of drivers that we used in this race last year and who were members of our very successful 2 LMP2021 championship. Mikkel, Scott, Ben and Nico had a tough 24 hours last year, but I predict they will be at or near the top in 2022. They should be one of our toughest competitors for the #11 car . It will be very interesting to see the two cars compete against each other and the other cars as well in a very competitive field. Bobby (Oergel. Editor’s note) will have a lot to do trying to coordinate all of this. » Steven Thomas and Jonathan Bomarito will be behind the wheel of this second car for the entire championship with Josh Pierson on the rounds ofEndurance. Harry Tincknell will be the fourth driver at Daytona.
