Oliver Gavin will no longer drive full-time for Corvette

This is the end of a 19-year adventure. Corvette Racing made official this Saturday the end of Oliver Gavin's full-time program starting in 2021, after the 12 Hours of Sebring which will conclude the 2020 season in two weeks.

Arriving in the fold of Chevrolet in 2002, Gavin started 201 races, pocketed five championships, won 51 victories, including five in category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and signed 25 poles. Sebring, Daytona and Petit Le Mans are also part of this exceptional list of winners.

The Briton also took part in the development of the C5.R and the descendants C6, C7 and today C8.R which are rampant in IMSA and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“Being with the same team for 19 seasons has been an immense privilege, and I thank from the bottom of my heart every person who has shared this journey with me, says Gavin. It’s an incredible time and I’ve been very lucky to have been able to ride at such a high level for so long.

I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together, especially the championship victories and at Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring, among others. I am also very proud of the role I played in the development of four generations of Corvette, and I look forward to exploring opportunities to represent Chevrolet and Corvette Racing in the future. »

This end of full-time presence for Oliver Gavin will therefore lead to an overhaul of the line-up which will be announced in the coming days.
