It is an understatement to say that Mazda is doing everything possible to play at the forefront in IMSA SportsCar Championship. Indeed, in addition to an engine heavily revised by AER, the team and its partner Multimatic should record the arrival of two choice reinforcements. And for good reason, if Jonathan Bomarito, Harry Tincknell, Tristan Nunez and Oliver Jarvis leave for a full campaign, they will be supported during the long races by two newcomers.
After having shone under the colors of, in particular, Michael Shank Racing and Extreme Speed Motorsports, Toulouse's Olivier Pla will join the team of the John Doonan-Ralf Jüttner pair. On the other car, the freelancer should be Timo Bernhard, who knows Joest Racing perfectly having defended its colors when he played for Audi, and who had already almost driven a Mazda RT24-P at Petit Le Mans last year. Note that on this car, another German, in this case René Rast, could also be taking part in the 24 Hours of Daytona.
