Porsche withdraws from Mid-Ohio in IMSA

La décision était attendue, Porsche l’a confirmé. Les deux voitures engagées en IMSA will not be able to participate in the Mid-Ohio sprint round this weekend. The three cases of Covid-19 identified during the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the British team prevent Laurens Vanthoor, Frédéric Makowiecki and Nick Tandy from traveling to the United States. Three of the four drivers involved full-time in the series.

The fourth, Earl Bamber, was chosen to compete in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring with the revamped KCMG team.

The decision risks destroying the title chances of the German firm, already behind Corvette and BMW, in both the drivers' and manufacturers' championships, for its final season in IMSA.

Porsche will return to Charlotte on October 10 for the eighth race of the season, but it will mainly have the classics of Sebring and Petit Le Mans to shine before bowing out.
