The Wayne Taylor Racing team has announced the drivers who will compete in the 2021 IMSA championship season behind the wheel of the Acura Dpi.

Goodbye Cadillac, hello Acura. Wayne Taylor Racing enters a new era in the championship IMSA, after three years spent with the American manufacturer. If she keeps her traditional No. 10, she renews her crew. As we revealed (AUTOhebdo n°2284), the boss's son, Ricky Taylor, will be back in the team. He knows the Acura perfectly, which he has driven for three years with Team Penske.

« I have a long history with WTR” recalls the American driver, who has won 24 victories in his career in IMSA. “ I grew up with this team, it helped me develop as a driver. It was a very hard decision to leave them in 2017. »

He will be joined for the entire season by Filipe Albuquerque, titled in WEC et ELMS with United Autorsports in LMP2 this year.

For endurance racing, 500 Indianapolis 2016 winner Alexander Red will complete the crew and Helio Castroneves will be present for the 24 Hours of Daytona next January. Castroneves also has significant experience in the Acura Dpi.

“As we change manufacturers, I want to have consistency in my drivers and I think that with this crew, it is something that we can check off the list. » commented Wayne Taylor.

With an all-new car for the team, Wayne Taylor Racing will have the heavy burden of defending its Daytona crown, which it has held since 2017.
