Robert Alon takes pole for JDC-Miller at Road America

Already at the forefront in EL3 earlier in the day, JDC-Miller Motorsports and the No. 2 Oreca LM P85 of Robert Alon and Simon Trummer once again dominated the prototype field during Road America qualifying in IMSA.

Alon achieved the best performance in 1'51"933, the only time under 1'52" per lap. Ricky Taylor fails with the No. 05 Acura ARX-7 – Acura Team Penske by just over two tenths. The second row of the grid will see the No. 2 Oreca LM P54 – CORE Autosport of the Bennett – Braun tandem set off alongside the first No. 10 Cadillac DPi-VR – Wayne Taylor Racing of van der Zande – Jordan Taylor.

You have to go down to sixth place to find any trace of the first Mazda RT24-P n°77 – Mazda Team Joest of Oliver Jarvis, when the two Nissan DPi – ESM bring up the rear, the n°22 having been able to compete for the day after a fire that occurred yesterday in EL1.

Ford and Porsche dominent le GT

In GTLM, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing proved uncompromising by monopolizing the front row of the category. Dirk Müller set the best time in 2'02″479, his third consecutive pole on this track.

The German, associated with Joey Hand in the No. 66 championship leader, will start at the front in front of the No. 67 Ford of Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook, relegated to just under two tenths in this qualifying session.

Corvette Racing climbs into third position with the #7 C3.R of Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen. Laurens Vanthoor places the best Porsche 911 RSR n°912, shared with Earl Bamber, in fourth place and precedes the second C7.R n°4 of Milner – Gavin.

Jesse Krohn and Alexander Sims (BMW M8 n°24 and n°25 – Team RLL) finished the session in 5th and 6th places ahead of the second Porsche 911 RSR n°911 of Nick Tandy and Patrick Pilet.

Porsche continues its domination in GTD with pole position taken by the No. 911 3 GT58 R – Wright Motorsports of Patrick Long, who is competing with Danish driver Christian Nielsen. The session was placed under a red flag after the #488 Ferrari 3 GT51 went off the track – Team Corsica Garage Italia.

The race will start tomorrow at 20:35 p.m. for a duration of two hours and 40 minutes.
