After announcing a first part of the future regulations of the Championship which will bring together the Grand-Am and the ALMS next year, theIMSA provided details on the next flagship American discipline. The future GT category Le Mans will notably retain all the specificities observed in the GT category of the ALMS. However, safety rules inside the cockpit will be reinforced.
Regarding the GT Daytona, a balance of performance will be achieved to ensure cost reduction and fairness with other categories. The GTDs will have a rear wing specific to the category. But the most important news lies in the possible reception of FIA GT3s which will only need minor modifications to comply with the regulations.
IMSA also looked at the prototypes, the premier category of which will apply the technical regulations developed by the ACO. Paddle shifts and six-speed gearboxes will be accepted on all prototypes. LMPCs currently registered in ALMS will retain the same technical regulations. The organizers used the color codes used in Endurance to identify the category of cars and their position.
