USC – Joey Hand back with Ganassi

The name of the replacement Mexican Memo Rojas, who announced his departure from the Ganassi team last weekend, is now known. It is the American Joey Hand which will take place in the Riley-Ford DP n°01, alongside Scott Pruett in United Sportscar Championship in 2015. It's a return to his roots for the 35-year-old driver, who had already competed in endurance on the other side of the Atlantic for Ganassi, notably pocketing the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2011 with Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas and Graham Rahal.

“To say I am excited to join this team would be an understatement, admits Hand. With Chip's team's success in sports car racing, the great history of the #01 car, and teaming up with a legend like Scott Pruett, I think Christmas came a little early for me this season . I had a great experience in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and now here we are back together full time at USC. Daytona will kick off the season and I can't wait to start working with Scott and the team. I'm excited about my long-term future here and what we can accomplish together as sports car racing experiences strong growth. »

Since 2012, Joey Hand has been aligned by the BMW brand in DTM, first with Team RMG for its first season, then with Team RBM. The Sacramento, California native had not been preserved by the propeller firm for 2015.
