USC – The Gainsco / Bob Stallings Racing withdraws

“It is with great regret that we will have to suspend operations for the remainder of the 2014 season,” said said team owner Bob Stallings. Since Daytona, our first priority has been the recovery of Memo (Gidley, victim of a fractured vertebra after the accident in which he was involved during the Florida double clock. Editor's note). The entire team focused on his care and comfort. We have seen great support from fans and the motorsport world in general. Although Memo has a long way to go, the worst is behind him and he has allowed us to step back and take a look at the program as a whole. With the personal and economic aspects, we believe it is in everyone's best interest to forgo this year. We are nevertheless counting on a firm return in 2015.”

After Gidley's accident, the Gainsco / Bob Stallings Racing team studied the possibilities available to it, since the No. 99 Corvette DP was the team's main car, including for the North American Endurance Championship (composed of the four feature races of the Unites SportsCar Championship, namely the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans). Gainsco Racing also explains that drivers and team members are free to respond positively to offers from other teams for the remainder of the season.
