USC – Oak Racing, first in Canada!

Oak Racing had an almost perfect weekend at the Mosport in Canada. Dominators in practice and qualifying, Olivier Pla and Gustavo Yacaman led almost from start to finish this Sunday, after ceding command a few laps after the green flag to Extreme Speed Motorsports. At the end of two hours and forty-five minutes of the event, the Frenchman was ahead of the Corvette DPs of the Spirit of Daytona of Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiente and the Wayne Taylor Racing of brothers Ricky and Jordan Taylor. The sister car of Action Express Racing of Christian Fittipaldi and Joao Barbosa, slowed at the start of the race by a puncture, took 4th place. The No. 03 Extreme Speed Motorsports HPD ARX-1b of Ryan Dalziel and Scott Sharp retired due to an exhaust problem. One of the other favorites, the Riley-Ford DP of Team Ganassi, had lost any chance of victory even before the start of the race, with the exit of Memo Rojas during a reconnaissance lap. Although there was some fear that the car would fail, the car was repaired and returned to the track more than an hour after the start of hostilities.

In the GTLM category, it is finally the Corvette C7.R of Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen which won ahead of the SRT Motorsports Viper of Jonathan Bomarito and Kuno Wittmer, who had nevertheless achieved pole position. The second official Viper took 3rd place in the category with the duo Marc Gossens – Dominik Farnbacher.
