USCC – Solid crew for Oak Racing at Daytona

Oak Racing hopes to secure a podium at the 24 Hours of Daytona held on January 25 and 26 where it will field a Morgan-Nissan. After participating in the Roar before the Rolex 24, Roman Rusinov and Gustavo Yacaman will join Olivier Pla to defend the colors of the reigning champion team in WEC. A fourth pilot will join the crew. “The team knows the car perfectly, and the results of the 2013 season have proven its performance and reliability”, commented the new Team Principal Philippe Dumas. “In addition, we have a homogeneous crew, with three very good drivers. We can therefore reasonably hope for a podium at Daytona, and we have a real chance to shine throughout this new Championship. »

Roman Rusinov highlighted himself last year by riding the Oreca 03 entered by G-Drive Racing. “I’m really excited to take part in the 24 Hours of Daytona, one of the biggest races in the world. We did some very good tests at the start of the year with Olivier Pla and Gustavo Yacaman. It was my first time at Daytona, so it was a great opportunity to get to know the track and the team. In fact, it was very interesting for me to test the prototype which was my competitor in 2013. The DPs go very fast in a straight line, and it will be hard to fight against them, but the LMP2s should have the advantage in the turns. I can't wait for the 24 Hours of Daytona to start! »

As for Gustavo Yacaman, the 22-year-old Colombian is the first driver confirmed for the entire season by Oak Racing. The new recruit of the French team distinguished himself last year by racing in Grand-Am on the Riley-Ford of Michael Shank Racing. “It is an honor for me to join a team like Oak Racing with the success it has had in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the World ChampionshipEndurance. I can't wait to work with this experienced team, and for us to become one of the teams to beat in this Championship. I really enjoyed the tests we did together at Daytona at the beginning of January. I needed a little time to adapt to the car but all my experience in car made it not take too long. I love driving the Morgan-Nissan LMP2 and working with a team as professional as Oak Racing is a real pleasure. I really hope to be able to improve on my third place result at the 24 Hours of Daytona this year! »
