This was obviously a recurring subject with kevin estre from crossing paths with him in the racing paddockEndurance all around the world: with such a level of performance in GT with Porsche, the Frenchman was a natural candidate for a place in the German Hypercar for 2023 and he obviously hoped to be selected. It is now done, since the Stuttgart brand completed its roster of drivers this Friday, in addition to revealing the livery and name of its LMDh, the Porsche 963.

“When Porsche decided to enter the FIA WEC and IMSA with this car, I didn't really need to apply, they knew I would be interested, admits the 32-year-old Lyonnais. Afterwards, it was a while before I heard about it again. But at the end of 2021, I was integrated into the development program. I did six days of driving on the home track in Weissach, near Stuttgart, as well as testing in Barcelona and Motorland Aragon. For me, it was a goal that I had set for myself since I turned to endurance: to win overall after winning in the GT category. Now I'm at the peak of endurance, it's fantastic! »

The Habs took the opportunity to share their first impressions of the prototype: “The hybrid system requires that the battery charge level must not fall below a minimum or exceed a maximum. Management is automatic but you can switch to manual if necessary. The car requires a different working method from what I know, you have to relearn a lot of things when you go from the GT to such a prototype. Regarding aerodynamics, I have never driven a car with so much downforce. It is also lighter, with a lower center of gravity. »

He will not be the only Frenchman at Porsche Penske Motorsport, since Mathieu Jaminet will also be there. This is unfortunately not the case for their compatriot Frédéric Makowiecki, despite the fact that the latter completed the first meters and the first laps in the simulator.
