LMH/LMDh convergence on track, LM P2 regulation extended

We know that the Hypercar regulations offered on paper two technical possibilities to integrate the category, with on one side the LMH like the Toyota GR10, Glickenhaus 007 and the Peugeot 9X8 barely revealed, and another, the LMDh, based on a chassis built by four entities (Oreca, Ligier, Dallara, Multimatic), solution preferred by Audi, Porsche or BMW.

If the latter are for the moment oriented more towardsIMSA and the LMHs in WEC, the idea stated at the start was to see the two categories compete for overall victories, particularly in major races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

An important step was taken today at the World Motor Sport Council in Monaco, with “amendments to the technical regulations to achieve performance convergence between LMH and LMDh. »

A necessity to see these two technical solutions compete on equal terms, in particular via a BoP. However, no details have filtered out on the elements which will be affected by these amendments.

The World Council also formalized the extension of the current technical regulations for LM P2 by at least one season, until the end of the 2023 campaign. Remember that the future generation will be the basis for the construction of the LMDh.
