Porsche reveals the first images of its LMDh prototype

Porsche has revealed the first images of what its prototype could look like in 2023. The German firm has in fact published three camouflaged photos of the Porsche LMDh which will aim for a twentieth success at Le Mans in the premier category in 2023. The Porsche Penske team, which will share its technical base with Audi, will indeed enter its LMDh prototype in the World ChampionshipEndurance and IMSA, the North American championship.

Until then, the year 2022 will be devoted to testing, in order to be competitive from the outset. “We are working hand in hand with our partner Penske on the development of the new LMDh prototype and in close and uninterrupted collaboration with the chassis manufacturer Multimatic, explained Thomas Laudenbach in the Porsche press release. In January, we will begin intensive testing to ensure we are fully ready for our competitive debut planned for 2023.

In an attempt to successfully complete the development of its prototype, four years after its last victory at Le Mans in the premier class, the Stuttgart firm indicated that Felipe Nasr and Dane Cameron would have a role to play as development drivers. Both men have already won the IMSA championship twice.

Porsche also took advantage of its press release to confirm its 2022 commitments. In addition to the numerous testing phases in Hypercar, the brand will be engaged in GTE-Pro and in Formula E. As in 2021, Porsche will enter two 911 RSRs in WEC, with the clear objective of regaining the world crown, after losing it to Ferrari in very special circumstances in Bahrain a few months ago.

No change on the No. 91, since the duo Gianmaria Bruni and Richard Lietz will continue to team up, with the support of Frédéric Makowiecki on the long races. On the 92, however, no Neel Jani. The Frenchman Kevin Estre, on the other hand, is very present, alongside Michael Christensen. The two men will reunite with their former Belgian teammate Laurens Vanthoor, with whom they won Le Mans three years ago. The German brand will also maintain its commitment to Formula E, placing its trust in André Lotterer and Pascal Wehrlein.
