24 Hours of Le Mans – Corvette Racing forfeits

If we cross our fingers that the 88th edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans takes place on September 19 and 20, it would have been naive to believe that the entry list would remain intact.

And without mentioning the economic damage that the Covid-19 crisis will cause, inextricable logistical problems will arise for competitors, linked in particular to the opening of borders. And in this regard, it is certainly the Americans who are the least well off.

According to our information, just like the two “American” Porsche 911 RSRs sporting the n°93 and n°94, Corvette Racing should not make the trip to Sarthe this year. We will therefore still have to wait before seeing the new mid-rear engine C8.R debut on the Old Continent.

As a reminder, the No. 63 should have been led by Jordan Taylor-Antonio García-Nick Catsburg and the No. 64 by Tommy Milner-Oliver Gavin-Marcel Fässler.

Concerns that affect the Oreca 07 n°20 of High Class Racing and the Porsche 911 RSR n°78 from Proton Competition. This brings the contingent of entrants to the classic Le Mans in GTE Pro from 11 to seven.

It remains to be hoped that Rick Ware Racing (Oreca n°48), Performance Tech (Oreca n°49), Risi Competizione (Ferrari n°62) and Weather Tech Racing (Ferrari n°65) also did not give up. But the risk is indeed there…
