Winner in 2016 for the return of the American brand to Sarthe, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing had abandoned his throne last year Aston Martin Racing. The team which manages the Dearborn firm's entry in GTE confirmed this Thursday the crews which will attempt to regain the top step of the podium in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
As we already announced several days ago, the two crews all year round WEC labeled Team UK, namely Stefan Mücke – Olivier Pla (n°66) and Andy Priaulx – Harry Tincknell (n°67), will be supported respectively by Billy Johnson and Tony Kanaan.
The Brazilian, resident of AJ Foyt Enterprises in IndyCar will make his second start at Le Mans, after starting last year replacing Sébastien Bourdais for a sixth place in GTE Pro. Pipo Derani, for his part, had evolved with Tincknell and Priaulx.
The two crews, entered under the Team USA banner, will be composed as at the 24 Hours of Daytona from Sébastien Bourdais – Joey Hand – Dirk Müller (n°68) and Ryan Briscoe – Scott Dixon – Richard Westbrook.
