24 Hours of Le Mans – The Oreca 07 – G-Drive winner in LM P2 excluded

Like last year with Vaillante Rebellion, the final result of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018 will not be known the day after the finish of the race. As announced by the WEC, the No. 07 Oreca 26 – G-Drive Racing of Jean-Eric Vergne – Andrea Pizzitola – Roman Rusinov, winners in LM P2, was excluded from the results of the event, as had already happened in 2013 for G-Drive .

The LM P2 prototype was found to be non-compliant in terms of the fuel restrictor. More precisely according to the document presented, an “additional element, not appearing on the initial drawing, was inserted on the restrictor”, starting from a valve to the cone of the fuel flow restrictor of the refueling system, which would modify the flow.

In fact, victory could go toAlpine A470 n°36 – Signatech Alpine by Thiriet – Stone - negrao, the podium being potentially completed by the No. 07 Oreca 39 of Graff – SO24 of Gommendy – Hirschi – Capillaire and the No. 217 Ligier JS P32 – United Autosports of Montoya – of Sadeleer – Owen, since the No. 07 Oreca 28 – TDS Racing Duval – Perrodo – Vaxivière is also affected by an exclusion for the same reasons.

But the call remains possible, which is what the G-Drive – TDS entity seems to be heading towards.
