Alors que les trois séances d’Essais Libres avaient été dominées par la Toyota GR010 Hybrid nº8, c’est la voiture sœur, leader du championnat, qui a décroché la pole position des 8 Heures de Bahreïn. La nº7 de Mike conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria López indeed completed his best lap in 1:46.250, compared to 1:46.540 for the crew made up of Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima et Brendon Hartley. The latter are now 16 points behind before the race this Saturday, the final event of the season. L'Alpine A480 – Gibson (Black, Stone, Vaxivière) nº36 took third place in 1:47.025.

In LM P2, United Autosports USA (Hanson, Scherer, Alburquerque) positioned itself in the best place by signing a 1:49.525. Realteam Racing (Garcia, Duval, Nato) and JOTA nº38 (Gonzalez, Felix da Costa, Davidson) complete the podium. The category leaders, Team WRT (Frijns, Habsburg, Milesi), will start only from seventh row, behind the women's trio of the Richard Mille Racing Team (Calderón, Floersch, Visser).

Fifth pole position for Estre

Mission accomplished for Kévin Estre. The Frenchman told us this Thursday in the paddock that he hoped to take pole position for the 8 Hours of Bahrain to get back into a tie on points with the AF Corse nº51 and it was achieved this Friday with a time of 1:56.041, synonymous with fifth pole position in six rounds this season for the Habs. The duel for the GTE Pro title will rage from the first corner as James Calado qualified his Ferrari (which he shares with Alessandro Pier Guidi) in second position in this category.

Ferrari will start in first position in GTE Am with the No. 47 Cetilar Racing, in 1.58.712. It's even a hat-trick for the Italian brand since the AF Corse nº83 (Perrodo, Nielsen, Rovera) and the Iron Ladies nº85 (Frey, Bovy, Legge) follow on the podium.
