Albuquerque: “The red flag destroyed everyone’s chances”

Philip Albuquerque, how do you feel after this pole position at the 6 Hours of Monza?

I am very happy about it. Of course, the red flag (triggered by the stopping on track of the Peugeot 9X8 n°93 of Mikkel Jensen, victim of an electronic bug. Editor’s note) destroyed everyone’s chances. I was a little worried because on my first lap I missed a corner and my exit from the second chicane was not perfect. Don't get me wrong, it was still a good ride. In my third attempt I was a little better, but the red flag came. I'm sure a lot of riders were improving, but that's how it is. It's another qualifying in the top positions for us, but the most difficult part for our crew this season is the race (Filipe Albuquerque shares the number 22 United Autosports with Phil Hanson and Will Owen. Editor's note) .

By starting in pole position, you can hope for a better start than in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (clash at the start with WRT n°31 and 41)…

What happened at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is in the past and must stay there. This should never happen. It's a 6 hour race, I don't see why there would be an accident at the start.

What is the strategy for the race?

We're not going to do anything different. We have a plan and we are going to follow it step by step. Will (Owen) will once again start. He is an excellent driver who knows how to negotiate the start of the race perfectly. He has a lot of experience with his five participations at Le Mans. We'll see what happens next.
