Victorious in 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1978 and on the podium this season behind both Toyota, Alpine confirmed this Tuesday, October 5, the continuation of its commitment in Endurance with the development of an LMDh planned for the premier category from 2024.

For this program, the Dieppe brand will always be associated with Signatech and Philippe Sinault, as has been the case since 2013 in the LM P2 category. With success, since the firm with the A arrow has won three editions of the Le Mans classic in this category (2016, 2018 and 2019), two world titles (2016 and 2019) and therefore a podium in Hypercar this season with an ex-Rebellion LMP1 . A “grandmother” replaced from 2024 by an LMDh with an Oreca chassis and an engine Alpine developed to Viruses-Châtillon with “all the expertise from the Formula 1 ». The choice of an LMDh is also economical for the French team since it will also allow customer teams to use the future prototype.

A synergy at the center of the project

The synergy between the Single seat and Endurance will be at the heart of this project. The bodywork will thus benefit from Enstone's experience in aerodynamics. “The Endurance programAlpine underlines the brand's attachment and ambition in terms of sport automobile, declares Laurent Red, the Managing Director ofAlpine on this subject. In competing in both Formula 1 and Endurance, Alpine will be one of the rare brands to be present in the two flagship disciplines of motorsport. We will make the most of Formula 1 and Endurance through technical and technological synergies to gain an advantage over prestigious opponents. »

« It is an immense pride for Signatech to have been chosen by Alpine for his arrival in LMDh, reacted Philippe Sinault. This represents the culmination of a joint project started eight years ago. More than ever, we have great ambitions, and are happy to take our collaboration to another dimension. After 32 years of career in motorsport, I look forward to challenging the most prestigious manufacturers on the planet, with Alpine, a brand that conveys passion and lives only for victory. » Concerning the next two seasons, Alpine and Signatech indicated that they had “started a reflection concerning the continuation of the Endurance program by 2024” because “the brand wishes to remain involved in the FIA World Championship WEC in order to best prepare for its arrival in LMDh in 2024.”
