Three weeks after 24 Hours of Le Mans nightmarish, Alpine will try to restart at the 6 Hours of Monza (July 10). The French team is still at the top of the Drivers' standings in the World Endurance Championship, but its series of podiums stopped at eight in a row with the same car and the same crew in the Sarthe. Nicolas lapierre, Andre Negro and Matthieu Vaxiviere are still three points ahead of the trio of Toyota n°8, victorious in Sarthe, Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakawa and Sébastien Buemi (81 against 78).

“Tradition says that once the finish line of 24 Hours of Le Mans crossed, few parts used in Sarthe are still good for use, explains Philippe Sinault, Team Principal ofAlpine Elf Endurance team. In this context, we have prepared well with an almost entirely new prototype for Monza. Even if the team was a little destabilized by our last result, we quickly re-mobilized and we arrived in Italy with the objective of getting back on the podium as quickly as possible and remaining at the heart of the fight for world titles. »

In the Manufacturers' championship standings, the French team is 12 points behind Toyota. A difference which will be difficult to make up over the first three races, with only one prototype against two Hypercars (even if only the better of the two Toyotas is eligible to score points).

“We are convinced that our problems encountered last month were only an epiphenomenon independent of the preparation of the car. We will have the opportunity to demonstrate it this week, on a track very close to that of Le Mans with its typical low downforce profile, but with very aggressive chicanes and curbs. This is a track that requires constant vigilance and I feel the entire team and drivers are extremely motivated by the sporting challenge that awaits them, particularly in this race where the field will welcome Peugeot . We are very happy to see the premier category field growing and we can't wait to face these new opponents as well as our usual rivals! »

See you this Sunday July 10 at noon for the start of the 6 Hours of Monza, fourth round of the season. WEC.
