Alpine wants to get closer to the title in Fuji

Alpine looks set to win the Drivers and Teams titles in the LMP2 category of the WEC. Elsa and Angélique of Team Stone-Richelmi-Menezes, victorious four times this season, has a 41-point lead over Senna-Albuquerque-Gonzales, the RGR Sport by Morand drivers, before the 6 Hours of Fuji (Japan) contested this Sunday, October 16.

With three events remaining at the end of the season, Signatech-Alpine already has a chance of winning the title even if the outcome of the Championship does not only depend on its results on the Japanese circuit.

“Since the start of the season, we have shown panache by sometimes going for victory in the very last minutes, commented Bernard Ollivier, the deputy general director ofAlpine. Our state of mind will always be as conquering, even if we do not forget humility in the face of very sharp opponents. With Signatech-Alpine n°36, the objective will be to further increase our lead in the championship to aim for the titles in Shanghai. »

Philippe Sinault, Team Principal of Signatech-Alpine, returned to the decision to replace Nelson Panciatici with Paul-Loup Chatin who this season defends the interests of the Panis-Barthez Competition in ELMS.

“Nelson having many obligations at the end of the year, we decided to let him pursue new projects because he had nothing more to play in the championship, explained the director of the French team. We thank him for his considerable contribution, not only in 2016 but also since the start of our common adventure with Alpine. It is an integral part of the project Alpine and we will see him again soon behind the wheel of one of our cars. From then on, the choice of Paul-Loup followed from a certain logic to maintain a good level of performance. After the 2015 season, we wanted to work together again and we seized this opportunity. »

Signatech-Alpine took the podium in LMP2 last year at the 6 Hours of Fuji when Panciatici-Chatin-Capillaire took second place in the category on theAlpine A450b.
