Aston Martin prepares for 2011

Aston Martin fulfilled the first part of its objective. David Richards, co-owner of the brand and boss of Prodrive, can be pleased with the results of his cars. This season, with three prototypes, Aston Martin has managed to stand out. To 24 Hours of Le Mans, the No. 007 of Charouz, Enge and Mücke rose to fourth place, behind the “untouchables” Audi and Peugeot . In the Le Mans Series, this same trio won, beating Pescarolo while the two teams were neck and neck at mid-season. At the end of this year 2009, the results are very good for Aston Martin, fifty years after victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the world sports car championship.

However, the 2010 season should be that of transition for Aston Martin and Prodrive, who should return in 2011 with a new model, adapted to the next ACO regulations, as AUTOhebdo points out in its columns this week. As the current regulations are favorable to the performance of diesel-powered cars, Aston Martin could take the time to work on its next prototype and skip the next season. The objective is clear: to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2011. However, the cars entered this season should still run in 2010, David Richards wishing “ see his current cars in private hands ».
