Audi mate Porsche in qualifying at the Nürburgring

On a track declared wet by the race management at the start of the session, qualifying smiled on the Audi clan, author of a double with the two R18 n°7 of Fässler – Lotterer and n°8 of di Grassi – Jarvis, associated with the Frenchman Loïc duval.

In the absence of Benoît Tréluyer, injured in the back before this German meeting of the WEC 2016, the Fässler – Lotterer pair was the fastest this Saturday, achieving a better average in 1'39″444, making the most of the dry line on the Nürburgring route.

Both Toyota TS050 Hybrid de Sarrazin – Conway - Kobayashi et Buemi – Nakajima – Davidson will start on the third row in front of the #13 Rebellion R-One of Kraihamer – Imperatori – Tuscher, best time in private LM P1.

G-Drive takes pole position in LM P2, with the No. 05 Oreca 26-Nissan of the trio Rusinov – Rast – Brundle by getting ahead of theAlpine A460 n°36 Signatech-Alpine de Menezes – Richelmi – Stone and the Strakka Racing Gibson 015S of Leventis – Kane – Williamson. The first Ligier JS P2, an example of the RGR by Morand, moved into fourth position.

In GTE Pro, Aston Martin signed his first pole position of the season with the No. 95 Vantage of Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen, authors of the best average in 2'01″712. The duettists of the British brand put an end to the domination of Ferrari, who had signed the first three poles of the season.

The No. 66 Ford GT of Chip Ganassi Racing, entrusted for the session to Stefan Mücke and Olivier Pla, failed by 247 thousandths over the two laps but preceded the second No. 97 Aston Martin Vantage of Stanaway – Turner.

The first Ferrari 488 AF Corse of Gianmaria Bruni and James Calado placed fourth, eight tenths ahead of the second Ford GT n°67 of Tincknell – Franchitti – Priaulx and the Porsche 911 RSR of Dempsey – Proton Racing. The No. 488 AF Corse Ferrari 71 from Bird – Rigon did not show itself to its advantage, taking last position in GTE Pro, and being beaten by the first four GTE Am.

In this category, these are the Porsche 911 RSR of Abu Dhabi – Proton Racing of Long – Al Qubaisi – Heinemeier-Hansson and KCMG of Ried – Henzler – Camathias who dominated the session and precede the No. 98 Aston Martin Vantage of Dalla Lana – Lamy – Lauda. Manu Collard and François Perrodo will start at the wheel of the F458 Italia AF Corse in fourth position. The Corvette C7.R from the Larbre Competition of Yamagishi – Ragues – Ruberti set the fifth time in GTE Am.
