Thanks to Frenchman Loïc Duval, Audi concluded the first day of driving in the United States with the best time in free practice.

Audi remains in the lead at COTA

The brand with the rings got off to a perfect start to the 6 Hours of COTA in Austin, Texas, the sixth round of the World Championship.Endurance 2016. After Oliver Jarvis in EL1 is Loïc duval which allowed the R18 e-tron quattro n°8 to continue his domination, by achieving the best time in the second session, contested at night.

The Frenchman set the benchmark time by completing a lap of the Texan route in 1'47 "235, preceding sister car No. 7 of Fässler – Tréluyer – Lotterer by 95 thousandths. Behind the two Audis, we find the two Porsche 919 Hybrid of Bernhard – Hartley – Webber and Dumas – Lieb – Jani, clocked at seven and eight tenths of a second respectively.

If the Toyota Davidson TS050 Hybrid No. 5 – Buemi – Nakajima places himself in the immediate wake of the Porsches, the second Japanese LM P1 of Kobayashi – Sarrazin – Conway, sixth, concedes 2″1 on the leading Audi.

In LM P2, theAlpine A460 n°36 from Menezes – Stone – Richelmi dominated the session, setting the best lap in 1’56”318. The top 3 in the category is completed by the RGR Sport Ligier JS P2 of Gonzalez – Senna – Albuquerque, second by two tenths, and the Oreca 05 G-Drive of Rusinov – Rast – Brundle.

Ford continued its domination in GTE Pro on home soil, the GT n°66 of the Mücke – Pla tandem achieving the double on the day. L'Aston Martin Vantage n°95 of Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen and the second Ford GT of Franchitti – Priaulx – Tincknell climb into the top three.

The threesome Dalla Lana – Lamy – Lauda was the fastest in GTE Am, at the wheel of the No. 98 Aston Martin Vantage.
