BMW ends its commitment after the 24 2019 Hours of Le Mans

According to our information, the two BMW M8 GTEs will be missing from the GTE Pro field in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) from the 2019-20 season. Indeed, the German manufacturer will stop its official involvement at the end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019 (Sarthe, June 15-16).

Urban artist the hypothesis of a private commitment of the Mtek team, evaluated for a time by the structure responsible for the M8 GTE in WEC, was rejected. The Le Mans classic will therefore be the last opportunity to see Antonio Félix da Costa, Alexander Sims, Martin Tomczyk, Nicky Catsburg and Philipp Eng aboard the most imposing machine entered in the Grand Touring category.

The BMW M8 will retire after just one season in the WEC. The best result after seven rounds of the 2018-19 campaign was a second place achieved by Martin Tomczyk and Nicky Catsburg in Sebring (Florida). In the general Team rankings, BMW is in fifth and last place with 101 points.

Nevertheless, German machines could well continue to roll on the side ofImsa U.S..
