BR Engineering and Dallara launch LM P1 project for 2018

The withdrawal of Rebellion Racing from the LM P1 class reserved for private teams left ByKolles Racing as the only team entered for the 2017 season, but the 2018 horizon should brighten up for the category.

The president of BR Engineering Boris Roteberg confirmed the start of the project for an LM P1 prototype called BR1 in collaboration with Dallara. An agreement has been signed with Andrea Pontremoli, boss of the Italian firm, and development will extend throughout the 2017 season.

The future BR1 will benefit from the expertise of ART Grand Prix which will be involved in the development of the LM P1 and its operation. “It’s a real challenge for us, admits Boris Rotenberg. It would have been possible to buy a chassis from one of the four LMP2 manufacturers for a season, or also leave for good, but we always chose our own path.

Not necessarily, and not always the easiest, but it is thus the most interesting and the most promising. The goal of the project was and remains the development of Russian motorsport, including the technology sector.

We invest a lot in supporting Russian pilots to help young talents start a career in karting and continue successfully in the GT, prototype or single-seater categories. » The BR1 will take over from the BR 01 LM P2 which was still competing this year in the World Championship.Endurance WEC and at Le Mans.

“The BR1 is a continuation of this project, primarily aimed at bringing more advanced technology to Russia. The name Dallara is known to everyone who knows about auto racing.

Now we are partners, and BR Engineering has opened offices in Italy (Parma), where the best Russian and European designers and engineers will create a Russian prototype for the SMP Racing team. »
