Buret and Gachet discover the Le Mans circuit

As provided for in the regulations, they had to complete a minimum of 10 laps, a mandatory condition for drivers who have never participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Olivier Panis – Team Principal: “I am satisfied with the work done this morning by the two rookies of the team. Timothé Buret successfully completed his baptism of fire on a circuit that was so impressive for a novice like him. He got “in the game” quite quickly, which suggests a good margin of progress for the future. As for Simon Gachet, who had driven very little with the Ligier JS P2, he carried out the work requested and showed his ability to adapt to this monument that is the 24 Hours of Le Mans Circuit. »

Timothé Buret – Ligier JS P2 Driver: “It’s a circuit that I approached with great pleasure and given the length of the circuit we have time to appreciate it as the circuit is long! I got into the car with almost a feeling of “déjà vu” because Renaud Derlot, Olivier Panis and my engineer had prepared me in advance for my first laps. With Paul-Loup Chatin who mastered this exercise, they not only gave me technical and sporting information but also allowed me to be in a positive state of mind in order to concentrate on taking my bearings during this first 14-lap stint. Before starting the afternoon session, I will work on the modifications to make to best optimize my second riding session. »

Simon Gachet – Reserve driver – Ligier JS P2: “For me it's a double discovery, I had to learn the circuit and the car having only done eight short laps in testing at Monza last week. I was very impressed by the speed on this circuit compared to anything I have experienced before. I had a little trouble getting into the rhythm, taking the time to get my bearings, the acceleration points... to finally start to acclimatize after five laps. I had recorded a lot of information transmitted by the team and I did everything I could to put everything together so as not to make a mistake and return the car to Fabien who continued. »
