Aged 22, Callum Ilott will start the 24 hours of Le Mans for the first time in his career on August 21. He will be at the wheel of the Iron Lynx in place of Andrea Piccini at the wheel of the Ferrari 488 #80, in the LM GTE Am category. A good way to highlight yourself before the scheduled arrival of Ferrari in the Hypercar championship, from 2023.
“Le Mans 2021!!! I’m really excited to join Iron Lynx for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s a race that I’ve dreamed of doing since I was little”, declares the Briton on Twitter.
The vice champion of Formula 2 already knows how to drive a GT car. He is racing in the GT World Challenge championship in the No. 488 Ferrari 3 GT71 of Iron Lynx, with Davide Rigon and Antonio Fuoco as teammates. (whose portrait you will soon find in the 24 Hours of Le Mans guide). The Cambridge native's performances in GT World Challenge are quite convincing at the moment with fourth place at Monza and Paul Ricard.
Callum Ilott's schedule has been rather busy since the start of the year. The Briton, who is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, was also seen twice driving theAlfa Romeo during FP1 in Formula 1. It was in Portimao for the Portuguese Grand Prix and at Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand Prix.
