Renowned as the day of big announcements at Le Mans, Friday was no exception to the rule this year in Sarthe. For the moment, there is not much to chew on from the teams' side, but the Automobile Club de l'Ouest has revealed quite a few interesting perspectives. Anthology.
- The 24 2022 Hours of Le Mans will take place on June 11 and 12. After two editions contested two to three months behind the usual date, the double round of the Sarthe clock will take place in mid-June in 2022.
- In 2022, TotalEnergies will provide 100% renewable fuel to competitors of WEC.
- The introduction of the hydrogen category is postponed until 2025, as a result of the current health crisis.
- The agreement between the ACO and theIMSA is extended for the next ten years.
- Pierre Fillon also confirmed that the new LMP2s will be on the track from 2024.
- The GTEs will run until the end of 2023, before the focus is given to the GT3s. Official decisions planned for the end of the year at the FIA World Council.
- A film is planned to retrace the 100 years of 24H of Le Mans in two years.
