“Two intense days” for Alpine before starting the season

In addition to intensity, Alpine had a contrasting prologue with one car at the back of the LMP2 standings and the other a little further into the mix.

This is why this Prologue is always useful, especially for teams who are rediscovering a category like Alpine with the LMP2. While waiting for its LMDh which should arrive in 2024, the French manufacturer has decided to delay one year with two Oreca 07s in WEC.

After private winter testing in Portimão (Portugal), Alpine had the opportunity to test his two LMP2s last weekend during the Sebring Prologue. “ We knew that two intense days awaited us at Sebring and that was definitely the case., pointed out team principal Philippe Sinault afterwards. Opening the season at Sebring is a bit comparable to a stage in the Alps to start the Tour de France."

A challenge thatAlpine somehow managed in his own way by focusing more on short and long stints rather than pure performance. The times are the perfect illustration of this since the Oreca 07 N°35 (Andre Negro-Memo Rojas-Oliver Caldwell) for example had difficulty leaving last position in the LMP2 category finishing almost two seconds from the lead.

« Despite this challenge, the Prologue went well overall and we accumulated a lot of valuable information and data that we will analyze over the next two days before entering the first week of racing., continues Philippe Sinault. We were able to explore many tuning options to rediscover the car and continue our learning of these very special tires, and even more particularly on this atypical circuit. We are happy, because we worked well, the integration of our new members went well and we now have all the necessary elements to ideally prepare for the future.. » There is no time to lose Alpine since the rest is from Friday with the 1000 Miles of Sebring, first round of the 2023 WEC season.
