Frédéric Makowiecki explains Gianmaria Bruni's performance

By completing a lap in 3'47"504, Gianmaria Bruni secured pole position in the GTE Pro category in Q1 on Wednesday evening, at the wheel of the Porsche 911 RSR n°91. A perfectly executed ultra-fast trick which also finds another explanation.

“Gianmaria had an aspiration on the entire last part of the Hunaudières, the entire portion to go to Indianapolis, and also from Arnage to the Porsche, comments Frédéric Makowiecki, the Italian’s teammate. We couldn't have had better, and that probably represents a second.

Overall, we are competitive. We must nevertheless see that there are several aspects to this. Last year we were already competitive here, but in certain conditions, when it was cool.

This year, this equally cool weather is helping us. We are still quite worried about the performance of the tires, to be consistent as we would like, because we have quite a bit of degradation on the front axle. It wasn't like that on Test Day. »

Asked yesterday about the possibility of seeing Porsche penalized by a potential modification of the Balance of Performance after the excellent times of the 911, Frédéric Makowiecki did not appear worried. “The FIA has the data, so they can see it was an aspiration. »

However, a latest version of the Performance Balance was published this Friday, with 10 kg added to the Porsches in GTE Pro.
