Glickenhaus reveals more about his 007 Le Mans Hypercar

Discreetly, without being talked about, the Team Cameron Glickenhaus continues to work on his 007, which meets the regulations Le Mans Hypercar.

Weighing 1100 kg, it will be powered by a 6-liter twin-turbo V3.0 developing 840 horsepower which will be developed exclusively for it and which will be badged Glickenhaus. Evidence that discussions with Alfa Romeo were not successful. As a reminder, it will not have a hybrid system. The car will be available for sale for a price of two million euros.

The press release specifies the motivations of the American entity, which believes that the new rules in force will “allow manufacturers like SCG to fight hard for victory on the La Sarthe circuit. To meet this challenge, we brought together alumni of the F1 and LM P1. »

The design team behind the documents presented here is led by Michael Young and Jim Glickenhaus. As has been the case since its creation, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will rely on the same structure that it trusts in Nürburgring Endurance Series (ex-VLN) and the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, namely Podium Advanced Technologies.

Concerning the organization chart, Luca Ciancetti will officiate as team principal, he who has worked with SCG since 2011 and who was involved in the P4/5C and 003C projects and who officiates as chief engineer on the 004 program.

The team manager position will be entrusted to Matteo Cavedoni, who joined SCG in 2018 as sporting director of the 003C program. Seen at Toro Rosso, Honda Mclaren racing, HRT F1 Team, Toyota Motorsport GmbH or at Williams, Mark Tatham was appointed chief engineer of the project.

Passed through F1 or even Nascar, Chris Hornby will oversee the engine installation, while the chassis part will be supervised by Barry Harvey. Koennigsegg defector after five years in the composite department at Porsche, he worked in F1 at Mercedes, Renault, Caterham, Toyota and McLaren. A career path quite similar to that of Mick Lindley (Suspension, steering, braking system), while Massimiliano Turco (Electronics) has defended the interests of SCG since 2011. Just like Igor Zanetti, inducted engine and control systems manager.

Also part of the team are Vincenzo Filazzola, Marco Cova, Stefano Rapisarda, Kim Myklebust and Carlos Herrera Sanchez.

« I like to say that we tackle something almost impossible, and then we're going to make sure we get there, underlines Jesse Glickenhaus, founder and director of SCG. I want to fail sometimes. Because if I don't fail, it's because I dreamed too small. These failures are lessons that we can use to improve. We are going to race at Le Mans with one of the best cars in the field. There are thousands of ways to lose a race, but only one way to win it. Hopefully we'll win. »

Wind tunnel studies have already been carried out and more in-depth studies are planned this month. The goal is to have the design finished by June and construction completed in August for a shakedown in September. It is therefore already established that the 007 will not be able to take part in the 6 Hours of Silverstone (September 5), the opening round of the 2020-2021 season.
