Goodyear back in Endurance

Goodyear will return to the sceneEndurance for the first time in a dozen years by registering as a manufacturer for the 2019-2020 season of WEC. The American manufacturer should face Michelin and replace Dunlop.

“The nature of races lasting from 4 hours to 24 hours means that tire choice and strategy are essential, comments Goodyear sporting director Ben Crawley. It is a motivating challenge for our team in the European innovation centers to explore new competitive experiences for our brand. »

Goodyear claims to have developed tires for LM prototypes in these innovation centers in Hanau (Germany) and Colmar-Berg (Luxembourg), but the US company owns Dunlop as a subsidiary of its brand. It would therefore be more of a replacement than a new arrival.

“Goodyear is a name associated with the heritage, passion, and development of technology traditionally associated with Endurance, adds WEC director Gérard Neveu. We are proud that Goodyear has chosen the WEC for its return to the international scene and we look forward to seeing the competition rage between our manufacturers. »

Goodyear remained present to this day as the official manufacturer in Nascar and actually lacked visibility on the international scene.
