Jenson Button has been confirmed at SMP Racing to contest the 2018-2019 WEC Super-Season starting at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Jenson Button confirmed at SMP Racing

CARhebdo echoed this last April 18 (see Ah n°2161): Jenson Button will compete well 24 Hours of Le Mans on the BR1 LM P1 lined up under the SMP Racing banner, and will further align with the 2018-2019 Super-Season.

The world champion F1 2009 was confirmed this Friday by Boris Rotenberg's structure, and will evolve on the non-hybrid prototype flanked by No. 11 and operated by ART Grand Prix alongside Mikhail Aleshin and Vitaly Petrov from the double clock tower in Sarthe, being retained by his entry in Super GT within Team Kunimitsu – Honda on the weekend of May 5, date of the 6 Hours of Spa.

SMP Racing will also enter a second car for the trio Matevos Isaakyan – Stéphane Sarrazin – Egor Orudzhev.

I think with the two of them and the experience we have accumulated in the different race series, as well as the team's fantastic experience in endurance, we will have an excellent chance to fight at the front. »

Jenson Button will thus find in WEC his former teammate at McLaren Fernando Alonso, engaged for his part at Toyota Gazoo Racing.
