Kévin Estre: “Much more pressure than usual”

As incredible as it may seem, the first victory of Kevin Estre in the GTE Pro category of the World ChampionshipEndurance (WEC) intervened… at the last 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018, on the official Porsche 911 RSR n°92. The native of Lyon (Rhône) dominated the debates alongside Marcus Christensen and Laurens Vanthoor, aboard the famous “Pink Pig” decoration.

The 29-year-old Frenchman was not particularly a fan of his colors at first glance! “I was the most reluctant of the three of us, fearing that it would be “too much”. The Rothmans package was classier. But “pink pig” was so special. Michael and Laurens immediately wanted this one, so I went with it. And actually, it was great”, recognizes Kévin Estre in an interview to be found in issue 2177 of AUTOhebdo, on sale in digital version and on newsstands.

The leader of the GTE world championship in WEC also felt “much more pressure than usual” during Le Mans week, « mais surtout de par le fait que cela faisait bien longtemps, avant l’édition 2018 des 24 Heures du Nürburgring, que Porsche n’avait pas remporté de grandes courses en GT, le dernier succès au Mans remontant à 2013. »

Discover the entire interview, his relationship with his teammates, the aggressive racing strategy that propelled him into the right car behind the safety car, in issue 2177 of AUTOhebdo, on sale in digital version and on newsstands.
