Barred from McLaren after the reappointment of Jenson Button and still looking for a steering wheel for 2016, Kevin Magnussen will be able to test the Porsche 919 in Barcelona in November.

Kevin Magnussen testing with Porsche

Holder last year at McLaren, Danish Kevin Magnussen had taken over a role as third driver this season after the recruitment of the double Spanish world champion Fernando Alonso, for the new page in the adventure of the Woking team written jointly with Honda, back in business as an engine manufacturer.

After the summer, rumors about a possible retirement of Jenson Button had placed Kevin Magnussen on the list of logical contenders to replace the 2009 World Champion, alongside Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne, protégé of McLaren and just crowned GP2 Series champion. But the extension of the Briton's contract had suddenly closed the door before formalizing the separation between Magnussen and McLaren.

The Lotus possibility / Renault was also showered this weekend in Austin, Texas, the teamenstone formalizing the promotion of Briton Jolyon Palmer replacing Romain Grosjean, alongside Pastor Maldonado in 2016.

This Tuesday, Porsche Motorsport, via his Twitter account, specified that Kevin Magnussen would be lined up during of a test in Barcelona in Catalonia on November 10 and 11, alongside the Briton Oliver Turvey, resident of NEXTEV China Racing in Formula e, and New Zealander Mitch Evans, who will also have the opportunity to get back into the 919 Hybrid during the Bahrain Rookie Test the day after the final of WEC.

“We decided to give three young drivers a chance to test our 919 Hybrid. Tubs and simulator preparation are almost complete. We are waiting for this test and we will see what happens next. » said Andreas Siedl, Porsche Team Principal.
