The ACO confident about the holding of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the face of coronavirus

At a time when many sporting events are either postponed or canceled due to the Covid-19 coronavirus, the 24 Hours of Le Mans do not currently appear to be threatened. The Automobile Club of the West communicated to this effect this Thursday, maintaining its initial schedule of June 13 and 14, 2020.

“At present, the competent authorities have not informed us of the need to postpone or cancel any of our sporting events scheduled for the coming weeks, specifies the organizer.

The calendar of events is therefore unchanged at this stage. The ACO is confident that the 24 Hours of Le Mans will continue on the scheduled date between June 7 and 14, 2020.”

The promoter, however, anticipated a potential more complicated situation, and confirmed certain measures which will be taken if necessary. “The priority of the ACO is to maintain all of its sporting events for the 2020 season, adds the ACO.

In the event that maintaining certain dates is not possible, the ACO has already planned to postpone these events to a later date in 2020. In the event of cancellation, spectators will be able to have their tickets refunded. »

The coronavirus has infected nearly 300 people in France, with four deaths unfortunately to be deplored. Let us remember once again that the virus remains benign in 80% of cases.
