Team 21 will broadcast the 2016 season

After Eurosport and Motors TV, L'Équipe 21 becomes the third channel to broadcast the events of the WEC. The TNT sports channel has confirmed that it will broadcast the six-hour events starting this weekend with the Silverstone race (Great Britain).

The format will be adapted during the first two races at Silverstone and Spa by offering a common theme of the event and a live broadcast of the last part. From the Nürburgring, the channel will broadcast the entire event. Commentaries will be provided by Marc Minari, Henri Pescarolo and Franck Lagorce.

Only the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 18 and 19) are missing from the program which will still offer the broadcast of the eight other events on the calendar.

Team 21 is strengthening its involvement in motorsport. The channel is already broadcasting several specials from WRC, the World RX events and the rounds of the Andros Trophy.

“By entering into this agreement with the WEC, we are very proud to be associated with a strong and innovative brand”, comments Arnaud de Courcelles, director of the TV division of the L'Équipe Group. “After the WRC and the Rallycross, Team 21 acquires the rights to a third FIA World Championship. This new acquisition allows the channel to assert its leadership in motor sports, something to delight viewers who now have access, in unencrypted form, to a unique offering of motoring events. »

“The announcement of the broadcast of the WEC on L'Équipe 21 is very good news for fans of motorsport and in particular endurance”, adds Gérard Neveu, the general director of the WEC. “We are delighted and we are convinced that the expertise of the journalists of the L'Équipe group as well as the means implemented for the broadcasts will bring real added value. To follow the exciting 2016 WEC season in France on free-to-air television, you will now have to watch L'Équipe 21."
