FIA opens Hypercar regulations

The Hypercars must bring the World Championship intoEndurance and 24 Hours of Le Mans in a new era from 2020, but the FIA has carried out an update of the future technical regulations, as announced by the World Motor Sport Council this Thursday in Geneva.

Interested manufacturers (for the moment, only Glickenhaus has officially registered its presence) could until now, and according to the first version of the regulation, draw inspiration from existing models in their range, or from concept cars.

But the evolution of the regulations as proposed by the World Council opens up perspectives for brands.

The 2020 LMP Technical Regulations are thus « expanded to a “Hypercar” format developed from road cars marketed by manufacturers, while preserving the previously approved regulatory format. This enlargement is intended to allow the entry of additional manufacturers into the championship. »

It remains to be seen what the manufacturers' response will be.
