The Ligier JS P217 towards homologation

Selected among the four official manufacturers for the 2 LM P2017 chassis, Onroak continues the development of its future JS P217. The next step for Jacques Nicolet's men will be FIA homologation and the obligatory crash tests and static tests scheduled for the end of May.

With this in mind, the construction of the first monocoque of the JS P217 continues in the Onroak workshops. “We have today reached the end of the analysis of the numerous aerodynamic study and validation work carried out for the Ligier JS P217 and we are very satisfied with the results obtained, and the solutions adopted, explains Nicolas Clémençon, head of the design office and Chief Designer.

For the design of this new LMP2 sports prototype, we took advantage of the experience of the Ligier JS P2, and we worked at the same time to optimize the fields of action defined by the new regulations. We sought to retain the recognized strong points of the Ligier JS P2 and improve the weak points by introducing new aerodynamic concepts allowing us to increase performance. Our objectives at the start of the study were achieved. »

PKM Consulting for the suspensions and shock absorbers, Hewland for the gearbox and transmission systems, or HP Composites for the carbon structural elements and the bodywork are Onroak's partners in this new adventure, which follows those of the JS P2 and JS P3.

Onroak hopes to be able to make the first rounds of its latest creation before the end of August after receiving the Gibson Technology engine block, designated sole supplier. The tests should therefore begin immediately.
