The #7 Toyota wins and takes the title in Bahrain

Needless to say, there was absolutely no suspense. There Toyota TS050 n°7 of Mike conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José Maria Lopez won without trembling the victory at the 8 Hours of Bahrain, final of the WEC, and the crew are world champions.

Faster by five tenths on paper thanks to the success handicap compared to the sister car, Kazuki Nakajima, Brendon Hartley et Sébastien Buemi, she did not have to force her talent to keep her opponent at bay. The difference in points between victory and second place was indeed enough to decide between the two competitors. Severely lacking in success 24 Hours of Le Mans, the No. 7 saved the honor of its career in LMP1.

In LMP2, Gabriel Aubry had a crazy end to the race. The Frenchman from Jackie Chan DC Racing, in second position at the start of the last hour, kept the pace of the champion of Formula E in title, Antonio Felix Da Costa, driver of Jota Sport.

The two men kept going wheel to wheel until 8 minutes from the end. Aubry then surprised his opponent when overtaking a GT to dive hard inside. At the cost of a nice touch, he took the lead and offered victory to Jackie Chan DC Racing.

The title was played to him. The United Autosport of Phil Hanson, Felipe Albuquerque and Paul Di Resta went a second consecutive race without a victory after winning everything in ELMS and WEC this season, but without consequences. For his last race in LMP2 Signatech Alpine finished fifth.

In Bahrain, the battle for the GTE-Am title was worth the detour. At the start, eight points separated the leader TF Sport driven by Salih Yoluc, Charles Eastwood and Jonathan Adam and his runner-up, the Ferrari AF Corse n°83 with a very Breton accent driven by Nicklas Nielsen, Emmanuel Collard, François Perrodo. The Frenchman, the team's bronze driver, had a very difficult first stint which relegated him to tenth and last position.

But the crew quickly recovered. Thanks to a great Nielsen and a safety car which brought everyone together, the car found itself in the right car for the last two hours.

She took the lead fifty minutes from the goal, during her opponents' pit stop, while theAston Martin of TF Sport was sailing in eighth position. With a staggered strategy, the Ferrari only had to make a very short stop in the last half hour. Enough to come out in fifth position. Then she moved up to second place to offer the title.

In GTE-Pro, once is not customary, the category was not very lively, except for the incident with the #51 Ferrari of James Calado and Daniel Serra. Too optimistic in an overtaking with a Porsche GTE-Am, Calado hit then punctured the left rear causing the only safety car of the race. The #92 Porsche of Michael Christensen and Kevin Estre won and the #95 Aston Martin of Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen finished fifth but won the title.
