The ACO wants to buy the 24h of Le Mans Museum

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest continues to innovate by taking advantage of the renewed success in 24 Hours of Le Mans with the emergence of WEC. The ACO presented to the Departmental Council a proposal to buy the 24 Hours Museum created in 1961 which has more than a hundred cars having marked the history of the Sarthe double clock tower.

This proposal is just one step in the ACO's new project called “Le Mans Resort”. The objective is to offer “a journey of original experiences” presenting “history, adventure, science, pedagogy, play” in the automobile industry with different activities.

The first phase of the project is planned for the end of 2018. The ACO hopes to welcome 200 visitors during the first year of operation. The other phases will be developed until 000.

“The Automobile Club de l’Ouest is delighted with this project to buy the 24 Hours Museum”, confirmed Pierre Fillon, president of the ACO. “Much more than an acquisition, it is above all the gateway to a very structuring project for everyone. Le Mans Resort is a joint effort involving many stakeholders and to which we are particularly keen. The legend of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will obviously have its place there. »

Free Maine mentions the date of December 31, 2016 for the realization of the project and a sale of the Museum for 3,55 million euros.
