Laurent Rossi maintains the vagueness about the future ofAlpine in Endurance

The only French team entered in Hypercar, Alpine is necessarily expected on the occasion of 24 Hours of Le Mans. Especially since Esteban Ocon's victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Formula 1 highlighted the brand, including outside the premier motorsport category. So that Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon themselves will be on display on Saturday before the race. After a good start to the season, theAlpine number 36 is expected in Sarthe and aims for victory in this 89th edition. Before a possible return in the years to come?

« We would like to be in Endurance in 2023 with our own technology, or 2024", said Laurent Red during a press conference, confirming the current transition period in which the Signatech structure is located-Alpine with its A480-Gibson. Nevertheless, the future of the French brand in WEC is not yet acquired. “ We look and analyze with a sympathetic eye what is happening before making our decision”, admits the Managing Director ofAlpine. In this current configuration, Alpine would no longer be eligible in the Hypercar category for next season which would force a return to LM P2... on the condition that the ACO once again accepts a manufacturer in this category which is normally prohibited to them.

With Fernando Alonso at Le Mans?

Double vainqueur des 24 Heures du Mans en deux participations avec Toyota (2018 et 2019), Fernando Alonso peut-il revenir en Endurance et sur le double tour d’horloge au volant d’une Alpine ? An inaccessible dream for Laurent Rossi: “ Alpine loves Le Mans and the WEC, we want to show that on Saturday with Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon. Fernando is a motorsport legend, he is one of the group's greatest ambassadors Renault Sport and it would be normal to come back together in Endurance in the future. It would be a dream but at the moment, with the calendar of the Formula 1, it is difficult to achieve. » In the meantime, the Spaniard will be on track this weekend at Le Mans in an old F1 car to the delight of his fans and those of the French team.
