Le Mans – John Martin and ADR-Delta strike from the start in LM P2

John Martin, like his ADR-Delta team, started in Endurance and 24 Hours of Le Mans This year. But he knows that he can count on a team which, although new to the discipline, has first-rate technical expertise. Aboard a safe Oreca 03-Nissan package, the Australian, who shares the wheel with Tor Graves and Jan Charouz, therefore approached his fast lap with full confidence. By setting a time of 3'38"181, he quite simply took pole position in his category, confirming the good spirits seen at the beginning of May at the 6 Hours of Spa. In Belgium, John Martin was already the pole position holder.

“I feel dizzy, admits the main person concerned. Getting pole position at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is a dream. I was on track for a four-lap run, and I set my time on the third. A big thank you to all the guys on the team who provided me with a superb car”. Team Principal Alan Docking, who has triumphed wherever he has gone, and notably in British F3, savors this convincing result just as much as its pilot. “Tonight was a special moment for John, emphasizes Alan Docking. He managed to find space on a very busy circuit, and was able to set the time for pole position on the last lap that allowed him to do so. We are all proud to have our car in the right position for the 24 Hours of Le Mans”.

The fact remains that pole, always beneficial for media exposure, is of little use when you set off for a double lap. Especially since the gaps are extremely small in LM P2. The leading trifecta of these qualifications is completed by the No. 24 Oak Racing Morgan entrusted to the trio Olivier Pla-Matthieu Lahaye-Jacques Nicolet, which follows at four tenths, and by the Oreca 03-Nissan shared by Nelson Panciatici, Roman Rusinov and Pierre Ragues. At the wheel of these two cars, the reference times were respectively set by Olivier Pla and Nelson Panciatici.
