Le Mans – The ACO enthusiastic about the return of Nissan

Pierre Fillon, president of the ACO reacted to the announcement of this commitment: “It is with great pride that we confirm today the return of Nissan to the 24 Hours of Le Mans thanks to this two-stage project which should lead this prestigious company to play for victory in the future. This commitment demonstrates thatEndurance, as we understand it at the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, is indeed the favorite discipline of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world. The values of technological development, sportiness, popularity and high sporting level which have driven us since 1923 and the creation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans correspond perfectly to the spirit in which the major players in the global automotive sector wish to invest in competition. . »

For his part, Vincent Beaumesnil, Sports Director of the Automobile Club de l?Ouest, was delighted to see new technologies arriving in Sarthe: “Nissan's project demonstrates that once again Le Mans-type endurance is the preferred terrain for major automobile manufacturers in the development of new technologies. The common desire of the ACO and the FIA, by integrating the possibility of including new technologies in the LM P1 regulations in force from 2014, is paying off. We would like to thank Nissan managers for their confidence in taking the decision to test a revolutionary powertrain next year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in order to prepare for a future participation in the LM P1 category. »
