Le Mans – Makowiecki and Luxury on GTE Pro pole

Already, during the test day, Frédéric Makowiecki had made the show. But no one had really tried to tease the clock. This evening, on the other hand, all the tenors in the category set out to achieve a good time. And in this little game, Frédéric Makowiecki once again showed himself to be the most skillful. The Frenchman completed a lap of the Sarthe circuit in 3'55"393, improving the 2011 pole position by more than two seconds. " It's really awesome, Mako told us. We weren't really able to achieve what we wanted in Q2. I knew we could go a little faster, but there was still a little stress, because we didn't know what the others were going to be able to do. But in the end, fortunately, it didn't improve too much. It's really positive, especially for the team. After a difficult start to the season, it feels good. We worked well. From now on, we will try to have a good race”.

A fine player, Fred Mako regrets not having been able to battle with the Ferrari n°51 of AF Corse, damaged yesterday during free practice, but which was able to return to the track today after a feat by the AF Corse mechanics. Finally, the top three is completed by the surprising Aston Martin Vantage GTE of the trio Adrian Fernandez-Stefan Mücke-Darren Turner, which follows less than five tenths, and by the Corvette C6 ZR1 shared by Oliver Gavin, Richard Westbrook and Tommy Milner, six tenths from pole. The only manufacturer not to respond at the moment in GTE Pro is called Porsche. Despite the modifications made during the off-season, the 997 GT3 RSR still seems to struggle to keep up with its rivals. But the science and experience of the Stüttgart manufacturer could however once again wreak havoc in the race this weekend, especially since the German cars are certainly the most fuel efficient in their class. Porsche will, however, console itself with the GTE Am pole. A pole signed by the Frenchman Patrick Pilet, at the wheel of a 997 GT3 RSR version 2011. Pilet did not go into detail, since he simply allowed us to get ahead of the two 997 GT3 RSR 2012 entered in GTE Pro.
