Le Mans – Vincent Capillaire explains his action

So at the top of 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°7 de Kamui Kobayashi was in the pits under security regime. While the Japanese was waiting at the end of the pitlane for the light to turn green, a driver signaled him to leave. It was about Vincent Capillaire (Algavre Pro Racing) that Kobayashi had taken for a commissioner by his orange outfit. The French pilot spoke today on social networks:

« Saturday evening, during the race, I waited for my relay, helmeted in my box. I wanted to show my encouragement to the leading car, stopped at red a few meters in front of my box. It was a spontaneous sign of encouragement as happens between drivers. I was fined by the Stewards for this action and I admit it was inappropriate. I regret. »

This unplanned restart of the car was cited by Toyota as one of the reasons for the abandonment of n°7.
