It's not the weekend Dorian Pin planned. As her first baccalaureate exams approach, the 18-year-old French girl initially had to revise this deadline. Sarah Bovy's positive test for Covid-19 and Michelle Gatting's contact case disrupted her program, with the Habs being called in for reinforcements along with Christina Nielsen “I received a call yesterday (Wednesday) in order to be here for the first Free Practices, the young woman told us in the paddock of the Belgian circuit. I prepared all weekend on the plane and during the short time at home, but now I'm here and I'm so happy. »

With her infectious joy, Doriane Pin assured us that she felt no pressure as she approached her first race at this level: “I have been preparing for months because I want to be in WEC and this is the main objective of my work. So there is no pressure. We all work well together and we just have to understand how the car is during Free Practice. We have time to work, including driver changes, racing strategies, feelings with the car. I don't fear anything at all. »

This impermeability to pressure is explained by the fact that the young woman has already participated in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in 2021. Certainly, the format and traffic will not be the same, but Doriane Pin is no stranger to the basics of the discipline. For her, this opportunity presents itself as a reward for her hard and passionate work.

“I have a thought for Sarah”

“The team gave me this opportunity to drive this weekend in the WEC and I am very grateful. This will be my first race, but I've been preparing for this for a long time, the pilot told us. I have never stressed about a competition. I prepare a lot to be at this level. I have always been passionate about it and I love taking time for it. My dream is really to be in the world championship one day, and now I'm there. It's only for one race, so I have to put everything in place to enjoy it since it will be a great experience for the future. »

Rahel Frey's experience will obviously be valuable for this baptism in the world championship. “She is there to train us and guide us in the right direction, confirms the Frenchwoman. I only met Christina this morning, but the three of us have a great feeling. We are very happy to be here. » The Dane, first champion driver of the championship IMSA (in GTD in 2016), should also be the start on Saturday and will also be a valuable reinforcement for the Italian team this weekend.

Obviously, Doriane Pin has not forgotten her teammates and AUTOhebdo joins her and the Iron Dames in wishing Sarah Bovy a good recovery. “I have a thought for Sarah. She is doing well and I hope to see them again (Sarah Bovy and Michelle Gatting. Editor’s note) very quickly. »
