Mansell: “Competitive in 2010”

World champion Formula 1 in 1992, Nigel Mansell will participate this season in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the candidacy of Beechdean Mansell Motorsport having been accepted by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, as well as the Le Mans Series races. The Briton will team up with his sons and hopes to be able to join the fight for places of honor during the legendary Le Mans race, on June 12 and 13.

« I am happy that the ACO has accepted our application for the 24 2010 Hours of Le Mans, even though we announced the establishment of Beechdean Mansell Motorsport, with the intention of racing in the Le Mans Series, only a month ago, says Mansell. Andrew Howard (Team Principal) and his team have worked very hard to make this a reality. »

After the revelation of the entry list for the next 24 Hours of Le Mans, Nigel Mansell is now thinking about the sporting aspect of this entry into the world of endurance. “ Now that we are committed to this illustrious race, the real work can begin, starting with the first test in Portugal. »

Realistically, the Briton knows that his team has work ahead but hopes to be able to compete with other LM P1 cars. “ We have no illusions about our chances of winning Le Mans in our first attempt but we will be competitive in 2010 and a lot can happen in a 24-hour race. »

Beyond the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Nigel Mansell is thinking about the future and hopes that this first endurance season will allow his team to become a stronghold in the world of endurance. “ Our arrival in 2010 is just the beginning, we are here for the long term. Our goal is to make Beechdean Mansell Motorsport one of the best endurance teams internationally and to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the near future. »
